1,220,403. Motor driving arrangements. DOMINION ENG. WORKS Ltd. 4 June, 1968 [19 June, 1967], No. 26586/68. Heading H2A. To preserve balanced load conditions between a pair of parallel-connected synchronous motors driving a large gear-wheel 8 through pinions 10, the motors are rotatably mounted and the stators 14 are mechanically interconnected such that small torque changes in one motor due to discontinuities in the gear teeth produce changes in the stator reaction force which are transmitted to the other stator whereby the electrical load changes thus produced tend to cancel each other out. As shown, the motors are rotatably mounted in supports 7 and the stators have intermeshing gear teeth 22, 22a. Alternatively, the stators may have a pair of interacting lobes (23, 23a), Fig. 3 (not shown) or a pair of interacting levers (24, 24a), Fig. 4 (not shown) pivoted on a stationary support between the motors and pinned at one end to the stators. The stator of one motor may have resilient means opposing rotation thereof. |
