Each contact 22 of a cord edge connector comprises a nose section 26 connected to a tail section 28 by a body section 30 which has an upper portion separated from a lower portion by a reduced portion 40, said lower portion being twisted relative to the upper portion (Fig. 2a, not shown) after insertion into a hole in the insulating housing 24 of the connector so that shoulders 54 on the lower portion overlie the bottom 78 of the housing and the contact is thus attached to the housing (Fig. 3, not shown). A downward force applied to the housing drives a gripping shank 52, of rectangular cross-section, on the lower portion of each contact into an interference fit with a circular hole in a mother board (Figs. 4, 5, not shown) said hole being plated through with a conductive material. A daughter board (14, Fig. 1, not shown) mountable in the connector is also described.</p> |
