A seat 1 and a back-rest 2<SP>1</SP> are connected on each side by two spaced links 3 and 4, the positional relationship between the seat 1 and the backrest 2<SP>1</SP> may be varied, locking means 5 being associated with each linkage. In one embodiment (Fig. 3) the links are pivoted to a rocker arm 8 which is lockably pivoted to the back-rest so that the back-rest may be moved while still retaining the same inclination to the seat portion and the inclination of the back-rest may be adjusted at the pivot of the rocker. In a further embodiment (Fig. 4) the inclination of the back-rest 2<SP>1</SP> relative to the seat is adjusted by the ends of one of the links sliding in an arcuate slot 6. |
