[Also in Division A5] The invention comprises the novel compounds ethyl 6 - hydroxyfuro[3,2-h]quinoline - 7- carboxylate, ethyl 9 - hydroxy - 2 - methylfuro[3,2-f]quinoline - 8 - carboxylate, 9 - hydroxy - 2 - methylfuro[3,2-f]quinoline - 8 - carboxylic acid, ethyl 9 - hydroxyfuro[2,3-f]. quinoline - 8 - carboxylate and ethyl 5 - hydroxyfuro[3,2-g] - quinoline - 6 - carboxylate. The above esters are obtained by cyclizing the appropriate diethyl benzofuranylaminomethylsne. malonates, which are obtained by reacting the corresponding aminobenzofurans with diethyl ethoxy-methylenemalonate, the novel acid is made by hydrolysing the corresponding ethyl ester. |
