1,204,303. Making electrical contacts; angular bending. AMP Inc. 10 March, 1969 [27 March, 1968], No. 12454/69. Headings B3A and B3E. [Also in Division H2] A plurality of electrical contact blanks is produced from sheet metal stock by stamping and severing. Each blank is clamped on a die 62 having a guiding recess 65, and a punch of semicircular tapering cross-section is forced through an aperture 29 in the blank, this operation displacing the contact portion 25<SP>1</SP> from the plane of the blank into the plane transverse thereto, the final position of the contact portion being such that it is bisected by the medial plane M of the blank. During the punching operation, the contact portion support straps (not shown) become helically twisted. |
