<p>Vinyl chloride (co)polymers and polymer mixtures with up to 20% wt modifiers are prepd by polymerising vinyl chloride, opt together with 30% wt comonomers, and up to 20% wt modifiers in aqs. suspension in the presence of free radical forming initiator and a water soluble protective colloid, and adding 0.001-0.1% wt. based on monomers, of a mono- or polyfunctional phenol or phenolic derivative, pref. dissolved in an organic solvent towards the end of the reaction at a pressure lying 2-6 atom below the saturated vapour pressure of the reaction mixt at the polymerisation temp. The homogeneous vinyl chloride (co)polymers and mixtures can be converted to articles with a lighter and more uniform colour.</p> |
