1276770 Propeller shafts GKN BIRFIELD TRANSMISSIONS Ltd 13217/70 Heading B7H [Also in Division F2] In a propeller shaft of the type having an internally-splined sleeve 10 for engagement with e.g. a gear-box output shaft, a drive shaft 11 and a flexible joint 12-which may comprise a resilient annulus 21, a Hooke's joint or a C.V. universal joint-the end of sleeve 10 nearer the joint 12 is sealed against oil loss by an O-ring 29 which is pressed into groove 28 by forcing skirted disc 26 against shoulder 27 by means of a punch 31. The punch is withdrawn and a sleeve 18, with resilient element 19, which receives centering piece 20 of the spigot 15, is fitted. (For Figures see next page) |
