The knob 24 is pivotable about a multi-shoulder shaft 20 secured to a plate 19 and its zero position is fixed by the engagement of a ball detent 26 in a recess in the end face of the sleeve 23. A gear 28 is secured to the sleeve 23 and meshes with a gear 29 fitted on a spindle of a rotary potentiometer 30 so that movement of the knob 24 is transferred to the potentiometer. Switches 31, 32 for anti-clockwise and clockwise rotation, respectively, of the motor (6), Fig. 1 (not shown), have levers which engage in a peripheral groove 33 having bevelled ends and which is formed in a sleeve 34 on the sleeve 23. Stops 35, 36 co-operating with a nose 37 limit the length of the actuating path for clockwise and anti-clockwise rotation, respectively. In the zero position of the knob 24, neither switch 31, 32 is actuated and the motor speed is adjusted by rotation of the knob 24 until maximum speed is reached on contacting a stop 35, 36.</p> |
