High pressure rubber hose mfr. - having reinforcing layer of textile threads, avoiding intermediate cooling of first blank before applying reinforcement

In the mfr. of high-pressure rubber hoses with a reinforcing layer of textile threads, the intermediate cooling of the first hose blank to make it rigid enough for the wrapping of textile threads, and its reheating can be saved and the productivity can be raised. This is achieved by using for the first hose blank a rubber mix with fibres, made of a material with a softening temp. above the processing temp. of the rubber. During the extrusion, the fibres are given an alignment which includes a component parallel to the periphery, pref. in a triaxial pattern. This makes the blank stiff enough for the wrapping operation of the textile threads at extrusion temp. followed by the application of a second rubber mix.
