<p>The water meter has a main and an auxiliary meter and a changeover valve with a closure element spring-loaded against the flow which sits on a valve seat in the closed position and allows or blocks flow through the main meter when a defined threshold flow is reached. The closure element is a divided flap with two vanes hinged together at a pivot axis in their dividing plane. The region of the pivot axis with gaps is covered by a flat seal on the upstream side of the flap.</p>
