The method is for the installation of a metal window frame (4) in brickwork. The frame comprises two uprights (5) and an upper threshold (6). At least the uprights consist of metal profile strips forming a channel (7) and directed with their opening outwards. At the location where the uprights are to be installed floor stirrups (1) are fixed to the floor (3). The uprights are allowed to drop over the stirrups so that the latter are located in the channels. The frame is then adjusted to the required height by being moved upwards along the stirrups and between the under side of the profile strip of each upright and the floor distance pieces are placed.
