PURPOSE:To provide an ink jet recording device in which more restoration actuation than it is necessary is avoided and waste of ink and stand-by time are decreased and optimum restoration treatment is executed according to the kind of ink and the kind of a head. CONSTITUTION:In an ink jet recording device having a recording head for forming an image on a recording medium by discharging ink, the recording head 1 has at least discrimination information representing either of the kind of ink to be used or information showing the structure of the recording head 1. The discrimination information is read by an ID read part 102 and discriminated. Restoration actuation of the recording head 1 is decided and executed according to the read discrimination information. Furthermore, the recording head 1 is replaced and thereafter the elapsed time from restoration actuation of the last time is counted by a timer 24. Restoration actuation is changed according to the elapsed time. |
