PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the wear of a battery of a portable machine, and to improve security performance while avoiding a malfunction that vehicle control is not permitted at the non-use of a vehicle of a regular user.SOLUTION: In an electronic key system which permits locking, unlocking or the like on the basis of the establishment of code collation using an identification code included in a response signal which is transmitted from a portable machine 2 in response to a request signal transmitted by short-distance radio communication from a collation ECU, the portable machine 2 comprises: a position specifying part 213 which specifies in which position of the inside and outside of a cabin of a vehicle the portable machine 2 exists; and a portability specifying part 215 which specifies whether or not the portable machine 2 is possessed by a user. The electronic key system does not transmit a response signal corresponding to the request signal when the position specifying part 213 specifies that the portable machine 2 exists outside the cabin of the vehicle, and when the portability specifying part 215 specifies that the portable machine 2 is not possessed by the user.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4 |
