A female contact element comprises a sheetmetal channel 70 having side walls which are each bowed inwardly at two points 80 above cut-away portions 74<SP>1</SP> of the walls to make a good resilient contact with a blade inserted longitudinally along the channel, as described in the parent Specification, the element also having an eyelet 82 which can be deformed to hold the element in an insulating body. A series of these contact elements are mounted on modular nuts 54 (Fig. 1, not shown), a number of which can be plugged into a frame carrying blade type contact devices mounted on the underside of printed circuit boards, and having tags which extend through the boards and are clinched to the printed strips. The modular assembly is fully described in Specification 1,030,066.
