1290987 Feed control; turret lathes H TOMIYAMA 30 Sept 1970 46496/70 Headings B3B and B3T [Also in Division F2] A device for controlling the flowrate of operating fluid for a turret slide control in automatic turret machines comprises a single valve 1 having a stem 1a which is rotatable to control flowrate therethrough, a first cylinder E, a rack 7 reciprocated by said first cylinder E, gearing 3, 4, 5 provided between said rack and said valve stem, a rotatable indexing member 10, stop members 15 carried on said indexing member 10 equi-angularly spaced and each being adjustable in its axial position so that the tip end of each member 15, when indexed into alignment with said rack, limits the movement of the rack, and a second cylinder F for indexing said stop members. In the control of a turret slide (Fig. 5, not shown) having a fast approach and retract speed, and a controlled slow operating feed, each of the stops 15 acts for one of the tools on the turret to control individually its feed speed by limiting the amount of throttling of the valve 1. A solenoid valve is actuated at the end of a fast approach to index the next required stop 15 and to move the rack 7 against it to set the flowrate through the valve 1 and hence the operating feed speed. The second cylinder F indexes the member 10 by means of a pivoted lever 11 and pawl (14) (Fig. 3, not shown). |
