A windscreen wiper control system comprises a motor 16 driving a worm wheel 14 secured to a shaft 13 (Fig.1, not shown) in which is eccentrically mounted a shaft 17 for driving wipers (not shown), and a switch actuator 20 secured to the shaft 17 and locked during operation of the wiper to the worm wheel 14 by the engagement in a groove 21 therein of a projection 22 and a lever 23 pivotally connected to the worm wheel 14. When a control switch 48 (Fig. 5, not shown) is actuated to stop the wiper operation a relay coil 29 is energized to actuate a lever 30 to press two pins 31, 32 of unequal length into the path of the actuator 20 and the lever 23. The actuator 20 passes over the shorter pin 31 and is halted by the pin 32, whilst the lever 23 is disengaged from the actuator 20 on striking the pin 32. The worm wheel 14 thus continues to rotate through 180 degrees causing the member 20 to move radially so that a protuberance 24 thereon passes through a guide channel 36 (Fig. 3, not shown) to engage a pin 37 and actuate a contact 33 to stop the wiper motor. During the 180 degrees rotation of the shaft 13 the shaft 17 is displaced laterally to increase the effective length of a crank driving the wipers so that these are moved beyond the wiping zones to parking positions. |
