Novel compounds of Formula I in which R is a group having one of the Formulµ II to VI and their acid addition salts, are prepared by reacting 3 - (51 - nitro - 2<SP>1</SP>- furyl) - 2 - bromoprop-2-en-l-al with a compound of formula H 2 N-R or its hydrochloride, provided that when R is a group of Formula II or III, compound H 2 N-R is in the hydrochloride form. Pharmaceutical compositions having antibacterial and antifungal activity, for oral or topical administration, comprise a compound of the invention together with a pharmaceutical carrier. |
