1,123,997. Testing hollow-ware for leaks. ELCALOR A. G. FABRIK FUR ELEKTROTHERMISCHE APPARATE. March 10, 1967 [April 15, 1966], No. 11338/67. Heading G1S. In apparatus for serial testing hollow bodies open at one end for leaks, the bodies 1, e.g. plastic cups, are clamped between circular rotatable flanges 4, 5 the open-end being closed by a diaphragm 11 the lower side of which mounts a displacement body 10, and from the upper side of which extends, a spring-loaded push rod 9. The bottom of the body 1 is supported by the head 7 of a spring-loaded push rod 6. The opposing furthermost ends of the push rods 6, 9 are provided with rollers which engage, on rotation of the flanges 4, 5, cam surfaces 21, 24, respectively such that the push rods 6, 9 and consequently the displacement body 10 and the body 1 are moved through a series of relative positions 1-18, as shown in Figs. 2a, 2b. At positions 9 and 17, in the case of a leaking body the pressure inside the space 49 between the two bodies is reduced to allow the body 1 to be released and carried away along guides 27, 28 respectively. In a modification, e.g. for use with a bottle 51, (see Fig. 4), the bottle 51 is enclosed in a casing body 61, sealed at 71, and a variable pressure is exerted on the space 49a between the body 51 and the casing 61 through a channel 64, the end of which is closed by a flexible diaphragm 11a which is connected to a spring-loaded push rod 9a mounting a roller 23a at its other end to run along cam surface 24a. |
