PURPOSE:To improve speed for transferring data and processing data by preventing the competition of access to a buffer memory for processing data to be transmitted/received. CONSTITUTION:The buffer memory of a data processing part 31 is composed of a multiport memory equipped with one RAM port and two SAM ports. A packet received at a network interface(I/F) 37 is temporarily stored in the buffer memory by a network controller 40, transferred to a SAM 34 of a buffer memory 32 at high speed later and further transferred from the SAM 34 to a RAM 35, and a prescribed processing is executed by a processor 33. The processing with the processor 33 is executed through the RAM port. The packet subjected to the processing with the processor 33 is transferred to a SAM 36, transferred to a buffer memory 41 of a network I/F 38 at high speed afterwards and transmitted to network 2 by a network controller 42.
