<p>The apparatus comprises a mould open at the top and bottom, a vessel above the mould, a feed pipe connected to the vessel and penetrating the mould, and a valve stopper consisting of a spindle within the pipe and possessing a floatable element immersed at the same time in the metal in the vessel and in the mould. The metal coming from the vessel flows via the space between the spindle and tube, and via the constricted orifice using the floatability of the stopper to adjust the constricted orifice. The relatively considerable displacement of the stopper causes only a small variation in the constricted orifice.</p> |
