PURPOSE:To make displaying with extra-high brightness over a wide area. CONSTITUTION:Cathode electrode 8 formed on insulated base boards 21, 24, 27... are installed confronting fluorescent substance layers 10 formed on othet insulated base boards 22, 23, 25, 26..., and a front base board having transparency is installed at one-side end faces of the insulated base boards 21, 22, 23.... Anode electrodes 7 intersecting the cathode electrodes 8 with electric discharge gap formed between and a rear base board 4 with a light reflecting layer 9 formed below are installed at other end faces confronting the first named end faces. The peripheries of the front base board and rear base board 4 are joined together airtightly to produce an airtight vessel, and therein an ultraviolet ray emitting gas is encapsulated. |
