PURPOSE:To obtain a photosensitive material having high sensitivity and ultrahigh contrast by incorporating a tetrazolium compd. and a sensitizing dye in a silver halide emulsion layer. CONSTITUTION:An emulsion layer contg. at least >=50mol% silver bromide incorporates a sensitizing dye represented by general formula IV and tetrazolium represented by general formula I , II, and III in which R1, R3-R5, R8-R11 are each alkyl, alkenyl, aryl, or heterocyclic, or a group forming a metallic chelate compd. or a complex salt; R2, R6, and R7 are each aryl, phenyl, naphthyl, heterocyclic, alkyl, OH, COOH, its salt, carboxyalkyl, amino, mercapto, nitro, or H; D is a divalent aromatic group; E is alkylene or the like; and (n) is 1 or 2. In formula IV, Y1, Y2 are each an N-contg. hetero ring-forming atomic group; R12, R14 are alkyl, carboxyalkyl, or sulfoalkyl; and R13 is H or lower alkyl; and l, m1, m2, m3 are each 1 or 2. |
