摘要 PURPOSE:To contrive solution of the problem that areal gradation characteristic is lowered due to joining of ink dots in adjacent lines, by controlling an energization starting point of time according to input data so that in printing in a line, an energization ending point of time for heat generating resistors is substantially coincide with each other. CONSTITUTION:Let v be the velocity at which recording paper is fed and t be the period of time required for counting m heat generating elements by an address counter 14, then an ink dot having the length of mvt is transferred at a part corresponding to the maximum developed color density. Ink dots having the lengths equal to an integer multiple of vt is transferred according to respectively developed color densities desired to perform areal gradation recording, varying the developed color density per unit area. Data from a data memory 12 are inverted by an inverting circuit 13, and the inverted data are compared with a count supplied from a data counter 16 by a density data comparing circuit 15. Accordingly, the ink dot in a line is no joined to an ink dot in the next line, even at a part corresponding to the maximum developed color density.
