<p>An apparatus for cleaning internal combustion engines (16) in which a cleaning fluid is cyclically drawn from a reservoir by a pump (74), flushed through the block of the internal combustion engine, and returned to the reservoir by the pump, is improved by providing it with a pair of cleaning fluid reservoir tanks (22, 24). Tank selection valves (34) alternatively couple one or the other of the reservoir tanks to the pump, to the exclusion of the other tank. One tank can be used to preserve the characteristic color of the cleaning fluid used to clean gasoline powered internal combustion engines while the other tank can be used to clean diesel powered internal combustion engines. Alternatively, when the system is operated through a first and then a second flushing and soaking periods, one tank of the pair is used to initially pump and recover first flushing and soaking period fluid, while the other tank of the pair is used to pump and recover second flushing and soaking period fluid.</p> |
