The ink tank cartridge has at least one chamber and an ink supply port extending through one of the chamber walls to allow ink to pass out of the chamber, the supply port having an inlet. A porous member in the chamber transfers ink to the supply port. A projecting member incorporating a portion of the supply port, projects into the chamber, defines the inlet, and engages and at least locally compresses a portion of the porous member. The projecting member is closer to one wall than its opposite wall and has two projecting portions extending from the member to the opposite walls. The maximum depth of the chamber measured from the distal end of the projecting member is less between the port and the first wall than the maximum depth of the chamber measured from the wall with the port between the port and the other of the walls.
