A medical transilluminator device (10) is disclosed. The device includes a fiberoptic cable (16) that is interconnected at one end to a fiberoptic illuminator (18). The opposite end of the cable is interengaged to a transilluminating spacer component (20) that transmits light toward tissue being examined. A light intensity adjusting mechanism (112) may be interengaged between the fiberoptic cable and the spacer component.
