PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a handover method capable of reducing a current consumption of a mobile station and decreasing a processing load in a mobile radio communication system having a base station and a mobile station. SOLUTION: The base station and the base station communicate with the mobile station. Mobile unit position detectors are respectively connected to the base stations. Each base station has a cell information storage unit for storing radio communicable area information with each other. The base stations are connected to each other via a connecting channel 7. The mobile unit position detector detects a position of the mobile station, and transmits its position information to the connected base station. The base station compares to check the position information of the mobile station 8 from the detector with cell information of own station, infers a movement to an adjacent area of the mobile station, sends a hand-over control signal to the mobile station by the information, and notifies the movement of the mobile station to the adjacent area to the adjacent base station to reduce the current consumption and the processing load regarding the hand-over of the mobile station.
