<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To resolve the problem that in the case of adopting a two bank system for reference image data buffer in the detection of an image compression motion vector, when decreasing the capacity of the buffer, duplicated transfer from a reference frame memory to a reference image data buffer occurs in the detection of an adjacent target block motion vector. <P>SOLUTION: Image data stored are sequentially written, without duplication, in the reference image data buffer comprising four separately controllable memories. Alongside, a decrease in the capacity of the reference image data buffer and reduction in the duplicated transfer are both realized by changing sequentially a motion vector detection region within the reference image data buffer. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
