An electronic endoscope device having solid-state imaging elements is connected to an endoscope connection section of a signal processing device f or an electronic endoscope. The signal processing device has a selective operation section, a signal processing circuit, and an information switching control section. The selective operation section performs operation for generating a selection signal that causes a selection of an output signal fr om at least one of the solid-state imaging elements provided in the electronic endoscope connected to the endoscope connection section. The signal processi ng circuit performs, based on the selection signal, signal processing of the output signal from the selected one solid-state imaging element and creates a video signal. The formation switching control section performs, correspondin g to the selected one solid-state imaging element whose output signal has been selected, switching of information on the electronic endoscope, which information is displayed on a display device.
