An image encoding method includes a step (Step 100) for encoding an image, a step (Step 102) for judging whether an unnecessary memory is present, a step (Step 103) for encoding memory management information to release an unnecessary memory if any, a step (Step 104) for releasing the unnecessary memory, a step (Step 105) for judging whether the memory management information to release an unnecessary memory has been encoded by the encoding of the image immediately before, and a step (Step 106) for again encoding the memory management information for releasing the unnecessary memory if the memory management information has been encoded. ® KIPO & WIPO 2008
