The invention relates to an assay device comprising a housing, a first device region and a second device region. The first device region is formed by or within the housing for receiving a fluid sample. The second device region is fluidly connected to the first device region and comprises one or more capture zones on a surface within the housing. Each capture zone comprises a first receptor or antibody reactive with an analyte of interest and at least one analyte sensor configured and arranged to detect an electrochemical signal related to a reaction of a detectable amount of the analyte of interest with the first receptor or antibody to produce a measurable signal in response.
