The present invention relates to a structure of a hollow axle shaft and a manufacturing method thereof. According to an exemplary embodiment of the present invention, the structure of a hollow axle shaft comprises: a hollow shaft (100) having a hollow formed therein and a nut assembly unit (130), a hub assembly unit (120) and a bearing assembly unit (110) stepped respectively on an end portion of a wheel side (2); a bearing (200) assembled to the bearing assembly unit (110) in the hollow shaft (100) and reducing a friction force generated between a vehicle body and the hollow shaft (100); a hub (300) assembled to the hub assembly unit (120) in the hollow shaft (100) and and transmitting a driving force to the wheel side (2), wherein the driving force is transmitted from a gear side (1) to the hollow shaft (100); and a caulking nut assembled to the nut assembly unit (130) in the hollow shaft (100) and preventing the bearing (200) and the hub (300) from being separated from the hollow shaft (100). According to the present invention, the structure of a hollow axle shaft separating the functions of the shaft and the hub and the manufacturing method thereof have an effect of securing competitiveness in terms of weight.
