PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a position detector for detecting the position of a detection body located in the vicinity of the surface of the object surface that is not a single plane with good sensitivity.SOLUTION: A position detector includes: light launching means (a laser curtain generation device 3) for launching light so as to form planar light flux directing to one edge in other direction orthogonal to one of two directions of an object surface 6 composed of a non single plane whose at least one portion is curved or bent at at least one portion; a folding mirror 36 for reflecting planar light flux launched from the light launching means so as to pass through an area in the vicinity of a surface separated from the object surface 6 all over the object surface 6 by a predetermined distance Zd; a camera for imaging the object surface 6; and a controller for calculating the position of the detection body based on an imaged image.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 8
