PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a driving device that can increase a voltage applicable between a pair of output terminals while suppressing increase of the cost, and a semiconductor device using the same.SOLUTION: A driving device 1 has a light emission unit 2, a light receiving unit 3 and a switching circuit 5. The switching circuit 5 switches the connection state of a semiconductor switch 6 for switching ON and OFF according to photoelectromotive force. The semiconductor switch 6 contains a main switch 7 and a sub switch 8. The switching circuit 5 switches a first path and a second path according to the photoelectromotive force, the first path electrically connecting the gate (control terminal) of the sub switch 8 to the gate of the main switch 7, and the second path electrically connecting the gate of the sub switch 8 to the source (a terminal other than the control terminal).SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
