The present invention relates to an apparatus and a method to prevent creases of a paper, and to prevent creases of the paper inserted between strips when winding the strip supplied to a tension reel through a deflector roll. The apparatus comprises: a movement frame installed with at least one roll to apply a tension force to the paper in contact with the paper; and a roll drive unit installed in the movement frame, to move at least one roll in a forward and a backward direction. The roll drive unit controls a position of at least one roll to form an edge contacting portion with the deflector roll for a paper surface moving to the tension reel after converting direction by passing at least one roll.
