PURPOSE:To provide an apparatus for manufacturing magnetic fluid of stable quality by preventing undesirable side reaction and preventing tentatively separated unreacted iron carbonyl from unsuitably flowing in. CONSTITUTION:For a device for manufacturing iron nitride magnetic fluid by vapor phase and liquid phase reaction, a reservoir 16b provided with a stopper 16a is provided between a reactor 1 and the entrance of a cooler 8, and a by-pass 16c which goes around the reservoir 16b and that connects the inside of the reactor 1 with the entrance of the cooler 8 is provided.
