[Also in Division F1] An actuator for effecting axial movement of connected shafts 70, 73 controlling a valve member (44), Fig. 2 (not shown), in a gas turbine engine comprises a rotatable screw 81 engaging a non-rotatable nut 82 fixed to the shaft 73, the latter being guided for its axial movement by ball-bearings 95 running in channels 97. The screw 81 is mounted in a ball thrust bearing 85 and is connected by a pin 86 to a driving-shaft 79 which is splined within a stub shaft 89 having an integral gear (90) driven by a motor (91). The interior of shaft 79 is supplied with cooling air through holes 97, the air leaving through holes 98.</p> |
