Apparatus comprises a film charging station having a horizontal clamping frame and movable along a first set of guide rails to a heating station at which the films are heated so that they sag to below the plane of the rails, a part of which is vertically displacable to enable the sagging films to be moved along a second set of guide rails, which are disposed at right angles to the first set of guide rails, to a moulding station. - The two films may be of different materials and properties, e.g. in a pref. carbodiment, boots are prepared from an external film of greater strength and a cheaper internal film. Other possible applications include the manu. of pipes, containers, etc.
