PURPOSE:To enable polarization characteristics (electrode characteristics) to be improved for an oxygen sensor which detects an oxygen concentration within an exhaust gas for controlling an air-fuel ratio of an internal-combustion engine. CONSTITUTION:An oxygen sensor is provided with a zirconia solid electrolyte 2, an electrode 4 which sandwiches this solid electrolyte 2 and is provided on the inner and outer surfaces, and a porous ceramic protection layer 7 which covers the electrode on the outer surface. An electrode 6 is constituted by a platinum layer 3 and a partial stabilization zirconia layer 5 which is formed on an outer surface of this platinum layer 3 and a film thickness of the platinum layer 3 is made nearly equal to that of the partial stabilization zirconia layer 5. |
