1,220,556. Froth flotation. MONTECATINI EDISON S.p.A. 8 Jan., 1970 [9 Jan., 1969], No. 917/70. Heading B2H. In a process for the flotation of calcium fluoride a flotation slurry containing calcium fluoride is conditioned with a polyethylenoxy alkylpahenol as a depressant and a polyethylenoxy ester of a fatty acid as an activator. The muddy deslimed or slimy raw mineral is pulped in water to form a slurry which is then conditioned with the alkylphenol and the fatty acid ester. The following flotation reactants can be added to the conditioned slurry: an unsaturated fatty acid, e.g. oleicacid, as a collector for the fluoride; a starch, e.g. dextrin, as a depressant for silica; sodium fluoride as an activator (this may be totally or partially substituted by the fatty acid ester); and a tannin, e.g. as in quebracho extract, as a depressant for calcite. Air is then blown in and the mass is floated in a number of steps. Examples are given. |
