Aerobacter, Serratia, Arthrobacter or Bacillus strain bacteria capable of producing L-threonine and requiring diaminopimelic acid for their growth, are cultured under aerobic conditions in an aqs. nutrient medium containing 10-300 mg/l diaminopimelic acid at 20-40 degrees C and pH 4-9.5, and L-threonine is concentrated in the culture liquor obtained.
