1,230,345. Mixing fluids in flow. CHALLENGE-COOK BROS. Inc. 17 April, 1969, No. 19788/69. Heading B1C. [Also in Divisions B3, F1 and F2] A granular material 24, e.g. sand or sawdust, is dispensed in a carrier liquid, e.g. water, by passing the carrier liquid under pressure through a perforated pipe 44 in a sealed tank 10 containing the material. Liquid from a pump 34 flows through pipe sections 32b and 32c in proportions set by valves 54 and 56 and the materials 24 flows into the pipe 44 through the perforations 58 to be entrained and carried to the nozzle 36. The tank 10 is filled with material 24 through an opening 22 and air is vented through a pipe 28 and valve 30. In a further embodiment, Figs. 2 and 3 (not shown), the perforated pipe (116) extends between couplings (118, 120) screwed into bosses (121, 122) welded to the outside of an upright cylindrical tank (100). A pipe (136) for liquid by-passing the perforated pipe (116) extends through the tank. A plurality of perforated pipes may be arranged in parallel in the tank. |
