Springs are formed round a mandrel that rotates at a constant speed between two end plates, one of which carries a device for holding the end of the wire at the start. During forming, the wire is guided by two fingers carried on a bar that slides along two guide rods and is moved by a lead screw whose speed of rotation is variable. The distance between coils may thus be varied even while forming a single spring, and the machine may be set to work automatically by the use of conventional sensor and control apparatus.
|
