A dyeing apparatus has a cylindrical outer tank with an inner container 2 forming an annular chamber 5 in which a length of material 30 is circulated by wheel 3. An overflow device 9 can be adjusted to control the level of the dyeing liquid which is circulated by a pump 21 and heated by a heater 23. Wash water may be admitted at 20. Circulation of the material 30 is assisted by a liquid stream directed by baffles 6a and 6b. Excess dyeing liquid enters container 2 and can be returned to circulation via pipe 13 and valve 15 on the suction side of the pump. A pressure release valve 26 enables the dye liquid to be used above its atmospheric boiling point. |
