1312385 Recording apparatus HONEYWELL GmbH 17 Nov 1971 [26 Nov 1970] 53301/71 Heading G1J Apparatus, in which timing marks are recorded on a moving photo-sensitive strip 23 at any one of a plurality of intervals, includes (1) a stencil 5 rotated in correspondence with the movement of the strip 23 and having symbols a, b, c, d, corresponding to the timing intervals; (2) an optical system 21, 22, 25 which forms images of the symbols along the strip and (3) a screen 12 rotated with the stencil 5 and whose position relative to the stencil is adjustable to block all but the appropriate one of the symbols on the stencil. The apparatus, Fig.6, (not shown) records several variables simultaneously on the same strip and the records are distinguished from each other by brief interruptions timed to occur opposite a corresponding numeral (e.g. 4) from 1 to 7 recorded from symbols on a rotating cylindrical stencil 5 which also carries the symbols a, b, c, d Fig.2. The stencil 5 may be a film tape held by a spring washer 6 against the inner wall of a cylinder 4 carried by a hollow shaft 3 rotated through gears 7, 8 by the strip driving mechanism. A sliding pin 11 passes through the hollow shaft 3 and has one end spring-urged against a cam 18 (preferably of stepped form) while the other carries the screen 12 coaxially within the cylinder 4 by which it is rotated through a rod 20 fixed to the base of the cylinder and a slidiing fit in a hole 14 in the base 15 of the screen 12. The screen has four apertures 13 helically arranged so that only one of the symbols a, b, c, d is exposed according to the position of the cam 18 which is set to correspond with the timing interval associated with the selected speed of the strip 23. For a sharp reproduction of symbols on the strip 23 a convex lens 25 is used and a slotted diaphragm 26, Fig.5, is interposed. The width of the slot being substantially less than the height of the symbols, the recording of a complete symbol requires a certain movement of the strip 23. |
