<p>Equipment for the wet-treatment of fabrics in open-width or rope form comprises a double vessel having an inner immersion compartment completely surrounded by a larger storage compartment. Above each side of the inner compartment is a winch by which the fabric is withdrawn from the storage section and drawn through the immersion compartment around an immersion roller and then returned to the storage compartment. The immersion roller consists of an open circular arrangement of rollers or guide rods surrounding a radial-flow impeller which provides a turbulent liquor flow through the fabric. The equipment is relatively cheap and simple to construct and operate. It combines features of both winch machines and jet machines, partic. the gentle handling of sensitive fabrics with intensive treatment using short liquor ratios.</p> |
