Novel D-6-n-propylergolines of the formula: …… wherein Y is O or S and R<1> is n-propyl, and pharmaceutically-acceptable acid addition salts thereof can be used to lower the prolactin level in mammals or for treating symptoms of Parkinson's syndrome in humans. A process of preparing the compounds is described which comprises reacting D-6-n-propyl-8 alpha - mesyloxymethylergoline with the sodium salt of methylmercaptan or sodium methylate.
