PURPOSE:To obtain a metallic member for hermetic having superior property of joining with glass and excellent in spring characteristic, by incorporating specific amounts of C to an Ni-Cr-Fe alloy having a specific composition. CONSTITUTION:The Ni-Cr-Fe alloy has a composition consisting of, by weight, 40-48% Ni, 5-7% Cr, and the balance Fe. This alloy is subjected to heat treatment at 800-1,000 deg.C in an atmosphere where the carbon potential of a gas consisting of 20-40% CO and 80-60% H2 is regulated to 0.6-0.95% and a dew point in the above case is also regulated to +5-+20 deg.C. In this way, the metallic member for hermetic can be manufactured.
