Television receiver picture-in-picture circuit - uses controlled feeding light density and colour difference signals for stored image to single a=d converter

The frame-in-frame circuit allows a time compressed signal for the secondary image to be obtained using an A/D converter (7) and digital memories, the light density signal (Y) and the colour difference signals (U, V) fed sequentially to the A/D converter (7) with a given sampling frequency, under control of a switch (S1). Pref. the compressed image signal obtained from the digital digital memories is fed to a single D/A converter with a cyclically operated switch connected to its output, for feeding the light density signal and the colour difference signals along 2 respective signal paths. ADVANTAGE - Eliminates need for separate A/D and D/A converters for for each image signal component.
