PURPOSE:To keep the concn. of anaerobic bacteria in a fermentation apparatus while keeping high methane fermentation capacity and high cellulose decomposition capacity in the treatment of garbage. CONSTITUTION:Garbage is pressed in a pressing treatment tank 12 to be separated into sludge and a liquid and the liquid is introduced into a methane fermentation tank 2 to obtain methane gas by methane fermentation and the digested sludge slurry formed by this methane fermentation treatment is filtered by an ultrafiltration membrane 4. At a normal time, the non-transmitted liquid of the ultrafiltration membrane is returned to the methane fermentation tank 2 and, when the concn. of the solid in the methane fermentation tank 2 rises, at least a part of the non-transmitted liquid of the ultrafiltration membrane is returned to the pressing treatment tank 12 and the remainder is discharged to the methane fermentation tank 2. Further, an anaerobic cellulose decomposing bacteria culture apparatus 3 is added to the methane fermentation tank 2 and anaerobic bacteria subjected to enrichment culture are supplied to the methane fermentation tank 2 as seed bacteria. |
